Why Full Sail University
A Pause in the Journey
Before embarking on my MFA adventure, I had already started my exploration of the world of Media Design. However, life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs. My grandfather, a beloved presence in my life, was transitioning, and my responsibilities shifted to caring for him and supporting my family during this challenging time.
The Pandemic's Impact
Then came the pandemic, and like many, I found myself navigating a world that had suddenly shut down. It was during this time of uncertainty and isolation that I realized my passion for the digital realm. I knew I wanted to learn more, to enhance my productivity, and to explore new programs and software that were becoming increasingly relevant in our digitally-driven world.
The Full Sail Choice
Full Sail University's MFA in Media Design stood out as the perfect opportunity to reignite my creative spark. The program's one-year duration was particularly appealing, allowing me to dive deep into the world of media design and emerge with a comprehensive skill set in a relatively short amount of time.
Embracing the Full Sail Community
One of the most surprising and rewarding aspects of my Full Sail journey has been the sense of community. As someone who has always loved learning from experts and connecting with like-minded individuals, I found myself in a space that validated creative ideas, challenged the quality of my work, and encouraged me to push the boundaries of my own genius.
The workload at Full Sail University was something I didn't fully anticipate. I was still working a full-time job and balancing a personal life, and well, I had been out of a traditional school setting for a decade at this point. So, it challenged me in ways I hadn't experienced before, but it also pushed me to grow and evolve as a media designer. I found inspiration in the dedicated professors and mentors who shared their wisdom and expertise, enriching my journey with their guidance.
A Natural Fit for the Digital World
Having grown up in the era of Yahoo Messenger, MySpace, MSN, and chatrooms, transitioning into the online community at Full Sail was seamless for me. Connecting with people from various backgrounds and geographic locations was not a challenge at all. In fact, it served as a reminder of the power of technology to bring people together, even in the midst of a global pandemic. So, it doesn't matter what generation you're in; if you can type and enjoy the comment section of social media, finding your footing in this online school community will be a breeze.
Graduation and Beyond
I graduated from Full Sail University, and although I was initially apprehensive about attending an in-person graduation ceremony, my family encouraged me to pause and celebrate this achievement. It was an incredibly fun and meaningful experience to have so many close friends and family members there with me, both in person and virtually.
Full Sail's commitment to each individual has been mind-blowing. It's actually another reason that pushed my decision over the edge when trying to figure out a Master's program to be a part of. Several years later, they're still committed to connecting me to opportunities to advance my career and even sharpen my skills. I love the intentionality behind every connection they make.
If Full Sail is on your shortlist, don't overthink it, just do it, and tell them I sent you, haha!
After completing Full Sail University's MFA in Media Design program, I am thrilled about the countless opportunities that await me. This journey, fueled by a desire for personal and professional growth, has already enriched me with invaluable experiences and knowledge.
In the end, it's not just about earning a degree; it's about embracing the journey, the challenges, the connections, and the opportunities that come your way. Full Sail University has been the perfect catalyst for my creative rebirth, and I eagerly anticipate the next chapter in this creative digital adventure.
